Owner and President of DeVisser Landscaping
Joel DeVisser is the Owner and President of DeVisser Landscaping. Joel has been at DeVisser his entire life, and started working for this grandfather and father as a young boy. After graduating from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in business, he joined the team as a full-time employee. He is responsible for making sure that DeVisser Landscaping services is making a positive impact on our employees, customers, vendors, and the community. Joel oversees the Landscape and Snow Divisions of DeVisser Landscape. He also is responsible for the strategic planning, company financial health, and the company’s culture
Joel is a Certified Green Industry Professional (CGIP). He enjoys all the things that are involved in creating opportunities and careers in the industry. He is married to his wife, Gretchen, and has a daughter Isabel and son Eli.
Owner and Vice President of DeVisser Landscaping
Nate DeVisser is Owner and Vice President of DeVisser Landscape. Nate began working on the landscape crews in 10th grade. While attending Hope College, he continued to work during the summers at DeVisser for his grandfather and father. After graduating, Nate worked in the insurance industry until 2003, when he came back to DeVisser and started the Weed Man Division .
Nate oversees the Maintenance and Weed Man Division of DeVisser Landscaping. He also is responsible for the strategic planning, company financial health, and the company’s culture. Nate has acquired his License for Commercial Pesticide.
Nate loves seeing his co-workers enjoying themselves at work and the impact the company is able to have on each other’s families. He enjoys analyzing numbers and being able to surround himself with family in his work day. Nate has a wonderful family with his wife, Abby and their three children Reese, Sarah, and Ryland.
Landscape Operations Manager
Mark Sundberg joined our team in 2007 as a Landscape Foreman, wanting to use his knowledge and experience in the landscaping industry. Mark graduated Kalamazoo Community College with an associate’s degree in Business Management an associate’s degree from Michigan State in Landscape and Nursery. Shortly after joining DeVisser, Mark worked his way up to become the Landscape Operations Manager.
Mark is in charge of the day-to-day planning and operations of all of our landscape construction projects and leads the landscape installation crews. Mark is also in charge of hiring our landscape team, and is the one who communicates with our customers on the scheduling of projects.
He loves being a part of the team that creates beautiful landscape projects for the customers and enjoys his co-workers. Mark is married to his amazing wife Cindy and is a father to his humble son Mark III, his dog Trigger, and their cats Muzzy and Arwen.
Weed Man Operations Manager
Jake Olech is the Weed Man Operations Manager who helps take care of our customers’ needs in a timely manner and oversees our technicians. He ensures that the customers’ needs and wants are met. Jake has been with DeVisser since 2007, and started as a Lawn Technician. Over the course of his time at DeVisser, he has been promoted four times. Jake also manages the Snow Division during the winter.
Jake is a Licensed Pesticide Applicator by the State of Michigan, A Licensed Builder by the State of Michigan, and a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout. He enjoys the constant challenge in his position and the opportunity to network and meet new people. Jake is married to his wife, Hannah-Grace, and has three boys Caleb, Colin, and Caden and his girl Claire-Grace.
Mike Holmes is the lead architect with primary responsibility of assisting clients in developing their outdoor spaces. He is well experienced in trouble shooting drainage and erosion problems, as well as building relationships with other exceptional contractors which allows his client’s projects to be built with efficiency and confidence. Mike graduated from Ball State University with a BLA in Landscape Architecture and BS in Environmental Design. Mike has known the DeVisser family for 30 years and upon returning back home after leaving his own design firm in California, he began working at DeVisser Landscaping.
Mike enjoys being able to see the excitement and joy the clients have when they realize their landscaping dream can come true. He also finds mentoring the next generation of great designers and installers can be extremely rewarding.
Mike is married to his wife Barb, which whom he raises future Leader Dogs for the blind while they are puppies. The two of them have raised 8 pups over the last 5 years, and the next is coming spring of 2020!
Jessica is a Landscape Designer with a Landscape Architecture degree from Iowa State University. She has been with DeVisser Landscape Services since 2018, helping our clients’ vision come to life by synchronizing horticulture, geography and architecture, with the fine arts.
She analyzes, plans, designs, and manages projects to ensure our clients’ vision becomes reality. She will begin with a consultation meeting to learn your vision, create a concept design, and then oversees construction with our Project Manager to ensure the design is achieved.
Jessica is engaged to her fiancé, Mitch and is accompanied in the office with Kona, her Siberian Husky pup. In her free time, she loves reading, painting, and going on many, many, walks and mini-adventures with her family.
Accounting Administrative Assistant
Jennifer Walters is our accounting administrative assistant who is responsible for accounts payable and receivables, answering phone calls and emails, greeting visitors and giving the first impression of the company. She joined our team in 2016 after being introduced by her husband Ryan, who works as a Crew Leader at DeVisser.
Jennifer loves that her job gives her the opportunity to multi-task. She enjoys the work she does and masters the job of collections. Jennifer and her husband Ryan have two daughters Adriana and Maddy, their son Landen, and their pit bull Angel.
Weed Man Sales Manager
Joe Piecuch is the Weed Man Sales Manager, starting in 2019, who oversees the entire Weed Man sales team and our sales center in the office. Joe has been recognized by completing the Friedman Group Retail Consulting and Sales Training, is a Dale Carnegie Sales Course Graduate, and completed the Franklin Covey Sales Development Program. After being aware of DeVisser Landscaping and Weed Man services, his next-door neighbor and our HR and Office Manager suggested him for the position. Joe enjoys the strong family atmosphere of DeVisser.
Joe has been married to his wonderful wife Kathy for 25 years, and has a daughter Abby who is a student at Kalamazoo Community College. They have two dogs, Macy and Coco.
Human Resources and Office Manager
Tina Taube joined our team in 2018 and is the Human Resource and Office Manager. She is responsible for payroll, all Human Resource functions and keeping our office running smoothly and efficiently. Tina graduated from Ivy Tech with an Associate’s degree in Marketing Management. She joined our team after learning more about the company’s role in the community and our sense of family.
Tina enjoys being a team player, and the diverse responsibilities of her position. She finds that working with a company who has strong core values can be rewarding.Tina has been married to her husband, Patrick, for 25 years and they have two daughters Alexis and Nicole. They also have their spoiled beagle, Chelsea.
Brittany Jones is our Administrative Assistant and is responsible office work, such as answering phones and emails, as well as the administrative duties for both DeVisser and Weed Man. Brittany joined our team in 2019, and enjoys that she is able to be a valued part of a team at work. She enjoys problem solving and getting to interact with our customers. Brittany has a rescue dog, Diamond who is 13 years old.
